I read through these issues and see a lot of questions or request about the fact that why can't you hide\remove the primary search field. I'd like to remove it completely from the search options because I am creating a site which has multiple taxonomies and I'd like the search to be based on those only. There is no other solution but to hide \ remove it because Drupal requires input on it. Otherwise search doesn't work.

Can this be done?

Yes, Drupal requires input on it, that's why…
I think the easiest solution for that case is a simple Views Exposed block.

Status: Active » Closed (outdated)

D7 reached its EOL back in January 2025, and there is no active release for D7 for this module anymore.
Development or support is not planned for D7. All D7-related issues are marked as outdated in a bunch.

If the issue remains relevant for D10+ versions, merge requests with proposed solutions for a new module version (D10+) are welcome in a new follow-up issue.

Thanks!
