The search module only updates the index for active search modules. If you disable other search modules on the search configuration interface in order to e.g. remove the tabs on the search form, the index is not updated for such modules.

The patch implements hook_update_index() for inactive search modules.

This works great!

Upgrading to Critical since without hook_update_index(), installing this module will essentially halt all new search indexing if it's the only active Search Module.
