When we upgraded our site from 7.x-1.2 to 7.x-1.3 all of the workbench access fields on our content stopped displaying any access sections. In addition, none of our users were able to see or access any content. Our workbench access is based on a hierarchical taxonomy. Reverting to 7.x-1.2 corrected the problem, but our site is unusable when 7.x-1.3 is applied.

Are you assigning editoral sections based on ROLE or USER?

We were using the ROLE tab to assign editors based on their drupal role... this no longer seems to work and is presenting itself in precisely the ways you're describing.

As soon as I added editors to the ROLE tab, it worked fine.

We are assigning based on role, with the number of users we have, assigning by user is not a feasible work around for our organization. But hopefully your information will help with diagnosing the issue.

Same issue here, although there's no depth to our workbench access taxonomy.

Under 1.3, Role-based access isn't working, but adding users directly to sections works fine.

Having same issue.
Role based access worked in 1.2 updating to 1.3 removed this access

Having the same issue. I can assign users using the editorial tab, per user, but not per role. Would love to see this working!

I can confirm this issue is present too. I've also tried re-doing all the settings from scratch, but it still does the same thing.

I'm having to roll back quite a few sites, but when done, I'll see if i can hunt down the problem.

Looks like this is a duplicate and already referenced.
There is already a patch that reverts the changes that caused the issue.
