jrwilson commentedAttempted to run:
composer global require drush/drush:dev-master
drush --version
Drush Version 8.0-dev

helmo commentedThe choice for 6.6.0 was intentional, drush master is by definition not stable and thus not the best default for production ;)
It is something that could be documented ... under http://community.aegirproject.org/using
Or even better, in the new docs on http://docs.aegirproject.org/ (https://github.com/aegir-project/documentation/)

omega8cc commentedThe problem is that Drush removed Drupal 8 support even in Drush 7, so we would need to depend on Drush 8 to be able to test/support Drupal 8 again. This comes with yet another problem, because Drush 8 (head) dropped support for PHP 5.3, so users should upgrade to PHP 5.5 or even 5.6, first. Which, of course, may affect some Drupal 6 contrib.
