Do you plan to release such a version?

I would like to start using Drupal, naturally the newest version, but not having flat comments (really flat, not just looking flat) stops me.

Why I want flat comments? Looking at the official Drupal forum, for example, shows a mess of sub-threads that makes the whole thread (topic) difficult and unappealing to follow. For very short threads that is of course not a problem at all, but the longer ones turn into a mess.
