At the moment it's hard to use a slideshow other than the default Panopoly spotlight.
It's hard for a couple of reasons. One reason is that the JS for the Panopoly spotlight is bunched together with other widgets js in panopoly-widgets.js. That makes it hard to replace.

New JS file is added in panopoy_widgets_page_build().
