Thank you for your work and effort on this module. I have found it to be very useful on a number of my projects.

Would any of the current maintainers of this Drupal module be interested in maintaining or co-maintaining the Backdrop version?
If so, I am willing to help in whatever capacity you think will best be of service to you. If not, I am willing to complete it, and I am willing to maintain or co-maintain the Backdrop version, once it is ported. https://github.com/biolithic/backdrop_disqus

The current system is that I'll take blame for Backdrop issues and the Drupal maintainers will take credit for its useful functionality.

There is no plan to work on the Backdrop port of Disqus and there isn't anyone working on D7 issues as well right now. I would have mentioned about Backdrop port but this link https://github.com/biolithic/backdrop_disqus isn't working as well.

Since, it's a very old issue, closing this for now. Please reopen if there is any new information.
