We have two groups both serving the same purpose for Pune Drupal community.

https://groups.drupal.org/pune-india

We are actively using https://groups.drupal.org/pune for organising all the events related to Pune Drupal Community.

While posting events, we have to add this other group as well since a few of the community members have joined the Pune-india group. Also, it becomes difficult for a newbie trying to stay connected with Pune Drupal community to select the group they should join.

Can we merge these both groups into one to avoid confusion & content Duplication?

It makes sense to merge them, but this discussion needs to involve organizations of both groups. Is the pune-india group active? If so, please contact the organizer to participate in this discussion. If not, follow the policy at https://www.drupal.org/node/1949706 to take over the group and then you'll be organizer of both.

We have contacted the group Organizer & they have added me as an Admin to the group. We would like to merge these groups into one. Probably merge the users & posts that are already there in https://groups.drupal.org/pune-india group into https://groups.drupal.org/pune.

@sreynen, Now pune-india and pune groups has the same set of organizers. IMO, it is okay to merge these two groups to avoid confusion.

+1 to merge the groups and join all the groups members in any single group as you group organizers want to like.It would be nice if the organizers of the Pune india drupal group will also participate in this discussion.

It would be really helpful to merge these groups into one.
The organizer of https://groups.drupal.org/pune-india, seems to be an organization account. And multiple efforts have been made to contact them, but we did not get any response from them.

https://groups.drupal.org/pune, has organizers who are actively involved in the community and all its related events. Makes sense to merge them. It would be great if we could retain the members and posts from the former into the later.

As one of Admin to the group pune, I am agree with merging both groups(pune and pune-india). Probably merge the users & posts that are already there in https://groups.drupal.org/pune-india group into https://groups.drupal.org/pune. May be we have many common users in both the group but It would really great if we can have just one group to communicate.

Okay, the Pune India group is gone now, and it should have all members and posts merged into the Pune group. I did hit an error in the merge process, but it seems to have completed successfully, so hopefully nothing got lost in the process.
