This is in no way intended to be inflammatory, but can anyone tell me anything about the pros and cons of the two modules? Send appears to be newer, so does it take a different approach to forward or are there any other major differences?
Thanks, Stephen

allie mickaTechnically, send is a few weeks older ;)
The basic intent of Send is similar to that of Forward. The primary difference is that send also makes itself available to other modules via an API ( e.g., by installing News and MLM you can replace the "friend" component with a mailing list, and you've magically got a newsletter list )
Additionally, Send uses Mime Mail to format messages, where Forward uses its own message formatter. The downside of Forward's approach is that messages will not be themed the same or respect the user's preferences on a site-wide basis.
Send maintains a history of all the senders, recipients, and nodes sent out, and which module sent them. This means you can have consistent appearance, management, and tracking of ALL nodes sent by your site, through a variety of means, and you can determine the efficacy of viral marketing vs. mass mailing, etc.
