This module seems to work perfectly well with Backdrop via the simple addition of backdrop = 1.x to the .info file.

Since the addition of that line is harmless for the Drupal version of the module, I'm going to add it here so that the same code can be used for either Drupal 7 or Backdrop.

I actually used a different tag on purpose, since this isn't really a port. Maybe we should leave both tags for now.

I have a blog post coming out (probably this week) which raises that as a topic of discussion... I'm curious how best to track or otherwise deal with modules that don't necessarily require a separate Backdrop version on GitHub (because the Drupal.org version can work with Backdrop instead). Not sure how common of a situation it will be.

We support Backdrop on d.o? Really?

The blog post mentioned above is now posted here, by the way: http://tag1consulting.com/blog/how-maintain-contrib-modules-drupal-and-b...

I have ported GA and this is not possible in one code for sure. A native backdrop port requires tooo many changes.

Personally, I am against any support for Backdrop on d.o.

If the Backdrop folk want to fork Drupal, fine, good luck to them, but let's not muddy the Drupal waters with Backdrop stuff. Even this issue does that in two ways:

  • it adds Backdrop stuff to a Drupal contrib module, thus making it that little bit more complicated
  • it adds Backdrop content (i.e. this issue) to Drupal, thus making d.o. that little bit more complicated
