I have a use case where I would like to have User A "block" User B only (or "hide" from User B), and not globally. Imagine a dating site where User A doesn't want to "hide" their profile globally, but rather "hide" their profile from User B only. User A could visit User B profile and if they wish or need to they could click a link to "block this user" or "hide from this user". If User B still had a residual link to User A they could be redirect to custom node. I think the "redirect destination" (admin/config/people/hide-profile) could still be used for this. Although another separate "redirect destination" for individual user may be better.
