I want to do something as simple as this:

1. I create an event on the calendar
2. An automatic mail is sent to all the members of the site informing of the event creation
3. An automatic reminder is sent 1-day prior to the event day

Any help? I've tried the signup module but it does not provides this exact functionality (users need to subscribe by themselves to the given event-node)

I believe this can be done between the events module and the new (or backported) actions module. It's not really a feature request for Drupal Core itself.
