Configuring a field to have a hidden label does not hide the label on the rendered form.
(See attached screenshots)
a) It does seem to hide the label in the administration menu (screenshot 3 and 4)
b) It does not hide the form label when rendering content (screenshot 2)

tim.plunkettThis is by design. Manage display is about the rendered entity.
What you're asking for is a new feature.

smustgrave commentedThank you for sharing your idea for improving Drupal.
We are working to decide if this proposal meets the Criteria for evaluating proposed changes. There hasn't been any discussion here for over 8 years which suggests that this has either been implemented or there is no community support. Your thoughts on this will allow a decision to be made.
Since we need more information to move forward with this issue, the status is now Postponed (maintainer needs more info). If we don't receive additional information to help with the issue, it may be closed after three months.
Thanks!

quietone commentedI tested on the main branch today and hiding the label worked as expected. If I understand this correctly this is working now.
If that is wrong, reopen this and add comment with steps to reproduce. Alternately, open a new issue, again with steps to reproduce.
