Does using this module make the subscriptions.module somewhat useless? Can it be used as a complete replacement for the subscriptions module, or do they work together?

I read this http://drupal.org/node/218708, which is about the OG subscriptions, but didn't manage to "translate" it into subscriptions.module terms.

No, I don't think they work together, nor they meant to.

This is intended as a replacement.
