This is a brilliant module. I used 6.x.

Now the 7.x branch hasn't been maintained for 2.5 years.

I suggest that someone takes care of it.

Many developers need this brilliant module working.

I am willing to port this module to drupal 8, some work has been done on github repo https://github.com/mohit-rocks/messaging . Still i am open to discuss new ideas and how things should go in drupal 8 module.
