We are in the process of upgrading sites to Drupal 7 from Drupal 6 (having previously upgraded them from Drupal 5). During the upgrade process we are seeing multiple notice messages about undefined properties and possibly other messages too.

Notice: Undefined property: stdClass::$javascript in _locale_rebuild_js() (line 2042 of /var/www/vhosts/emmasdiary.getmeaticket.co.uk/html/includes/locale.inc).

The problem appears to be that the language_default variable was set to an object in Drupal 6 (via the language_default() method) and then that method was updated to add a javascript property to the default language object - but importantly no update hook was added to update the object in the language_default variable.

The attached patch fixes the problem.

Maybe this is a bug with the Drupal 5->6 upgrade path? I don't think it's an issue with Drupal 7, is it? (Since the Drupal 6 version of language_default() has the 'javascript' property already...)

I'm facing the same bug. Just ran an upgrade from D5 to D6 and than from D6 to D7. The issue popped up in D7 update.php.

I got the same warning, also D5 -> D6 -> D7.
The patch does work for me.
