So after installing all the required modules and this module itself and setting up an application on the instagram dev site. I put in the correct client ID and secret but an access token does not get generated. I have double checked that the client ID and secret are correct and the application has been created for an hour or two now. Do you know why the access token would not be getting generated?

vaza18 commentedTry to disable Overlay module if it is enabled. If this not help see questions below.
Can you give me the list of enabled modules on your site? Maybe some combination of modules gave such error.
Can you attach screenshot here with admin/config/services/instagram after submitting the form (please create new oauth client at instagram for testing this issue)?
Attantion! You must set right website_url and redirect_uri when you register instagram client. For example: I use localhost site http://instatest.localhost:8082. So I write the same URL in website_url and redirect_url fields.
Waiting for your answers.

deez21 commentedAhh thank you! I made the website_url and redirect_url the same and it worked. Thank you!

wintervanilla commentedHi - I'm having a similar issue.
I've got everything installed I'm pretty sure. But when I try to retrieve the access token, I get the following error back:
{"code": 400, "error_type": "OAuthException", "error_message": "Redirect URI does not match registered redirect URI"}without any further information as to what was wrong. I have set both my website_url and redirect_url to the base directory for my site on instagram's client manager after reading this post and the error is the same. I don't understand oauth and am feeling in over my head. Any help greatly appreciated!

vaza18 commentedwintervanilla, Please attach screenshots. But as I can make a conclusion you wrote wrong Redirect URI that differ from your site URL.
wintervanilla commentedUPDATE: I revisited this today and discovered that it works with http://myurl.url but not with the www. included as http://www.myurl.url.
Moving ahead now - thanks for your reply though.
vaza18 commentedI think it depends more on the domain configuration.
tinarey commentedI got the same error as #3 and manually changed the url in the addressbar from
(which is supposed to mean "?q=admin"; but I'm working with clean urls) to
which let me access the "authorize instagram" page and then tries to redirect back but comes up with "Something wrong. Invalid response. Please check Client ID and Client secret values."
I had to disable clean urls (and change the urls in instagram accordingly) to make it work.

joshberry commented@RaspberryBlack, I'm having that same exact issue right now (clean URLS NOT enabled, and no domain, just an IP address). I was able to use your instructions above to generate a token, but now when I try to import images I get 400 errors from Instagram. I realize this may be a separate issue.
Would you mind posting exactly how you entered the redirect URL on the Instagram side? Thanks!

kerrycurtain commentedHi
Also had probs. Found great solution here www.symmetricinfinity.com/2013/04/06/download-your-likes-from-instagram....
Hope this saves some time.

markmendiola commentedHi!
I also had this problem. I've solved it with the help of kerrycurtain's link. Here's how I've done it.
1. Edit your Client on Instagram Developer and uncheck Disable implicit OAuth.
2. Click Update Client to save it.
3. Now go to https://instagram.com/oauth/authorize/?client_id=[CLIENT_ID]&redirect_ur.... Just change [CLIENT_ID] and [REDIRECT_URI] with their values.
4. After that you will be redirected to [REDIRECT_URI]/#access_token=[ACCESS_TOKEN]. Get it and place it on the Instagram Access Token textbox.
That's all. I hope it helps.
TY

sheldonkreger commentedSame issue. #10 solved my issue. I was stumped because one of my URI's in my Instagram client config had a trailing slash and the other did not. Dyslexia is hard :-(
Comment #12
erangakm commentedI was able to solve the problem by using http://site.com/?q=admin/config/services/instagram as both url and the redirect url.
shaneod commentedThe info in the link on #9 worked for me also.
vaza18 commentedOne of the causes of this issue is in wrong configuration for Instagram Client OAuth redirect_uri. I've added additional field with notice about this on config page. This fix is applied only for DEV release for the present.

wasimhyder09 commentedComment # 2 worked for me.
