@see #110961: Support for upward expanding menus, but the does not work on 7.x-2.x, so, this feature is not in nice menus

I don't understand your response, but I noticed I was not clear in my problem. So:

"The module shows up on the modules listing page (admin/modules), but when it is enabled and the admin/modules page is saved, the module does not stay selected. So I used 7.24 instead."

Hope that makes sense.

I am using 7.x-2.5 and don't have this problem. Have you turned on error-message display in /admin/config/development/logging to see if any errors are being reported when you try to enable?

Thank you dhalbert. I was able to update through the modules update page. Don't know why I had to install 2.4 first. No errors in log.

D7 reached its EOL back in January 2025, and there is no active release for D7 for this module anymore.
Development or support is not planned for D7. All D7-related issues are marked as outdated in a bunch.
