I haver un into this issue while trying to filter a view with "contains any" operator, I realized the query was wrong (I guess) since contains query used '*' at the end of each word. Operator functionality is ok but the filter was not working or retrieved wrong results.
As example.
Result in following query with no results
Fixed query looks like this and shows expected results
Basic test done, seems to work fine with "contains any word" and "contains all words" and with simple text and multi text fields.
