why is this limited to view panes now?
@drupalok - content panes are def the best to use with panels. but you *can* use normal views if you want. there is a setting in panels that says "use all views as panel panes" that you need to check and then you need to enable those panels. by default this is enabled in panels, but panopoly disables it/

i know view panes are the best, but for existing stuff it's faster to use other content as well
