Hi all,
I'm putting this in as a bug report, because it either needs clarification or a rethink. If you register as a new user on Drupal.org you see this message:
Now that's perfectly reasonable, BUT, that same user database is shared with http://association.drupal.org - here's a grab from https://association.drupal.org/membership:
Now we have a problem, because when I logout and go to 'Join' I get a page like this, which carries no such 'warning' ... further, I'd argue the page before implies an organisation account is acceptable. Frankly, we have one because it seemed sensible, but the Drupal.org website expressly forbids that - and the SSO puts the two sites at odds with one another:
Manager creates organisational user account on the Association site, to buy an organisation membership - user gets deleted by Drupal.org administrators for not being a personal account. That hasn't happened to us, but I can see that it could.
Now you might say I should register *personally* with the Association site and then purchase an organisation membership, but there are two problems with that:
- It doesn't actually SAY that anywhere on the Association site
- I might actually want to purchase membership for my organisation *and* a personal membership
Thoughts on all that?

Also took a guess at a better classification.

greg.harveyOh, cool - sorry, took a punt on content, on account of it being specifically about the content notice on the user register page of d.o. Thanks for the link. I guess I should mark this as a duplicate?

greg.harveyOops again, how'd that happen?!

lizzjoyHi @greg.harvey, I'd love to work with you on the UX part. I'm not sure if this is the right place for that work, but what would be most helpful is if you look at assoc.drupal.org/membership and then at the contribution pages and tell me what you think is unclear. If you want to put your thoughts here or send to me via https://www.drupal.org/user/1184486/contact that works as well. Thanks
Since this is now about ADO, and the Organization accounts are being resolved via new policy, I'll move this issue to the ADO queue.

After taking a look, I think this issue could be resolved. Whether you access the Join page via https://association.drupal.org/ or https://www.drupal.org, you are taken to the same user login or create page at https://register.drupal.org/user/login or https://register.drupal.org/user/register. The messaging on this page is changed to clarify where user accounts are used:
So, I think this first issue is addressed because regardless if your entry point to the user creation page is https://association.drupal.org/ or https://www.drupal.org, users see the same user registration page and messaging.
It looks like related issue #1863498: Create Basis for ToS to allow organizations to share accounts pertaining to whether users can create organization accounts is closed and addressed. I think that since organizations can register for organization membership with an organization account, this issue could also be considered resolved.

lizzjoyI added language at https://www.drupal.org/association/organization-membership "You will log in to your user profile and you will be asked for the organization name and details so to make a contribution on behalf of your organization." to make this clearer. Hopefully it resolves the UX wtf!
