Component does not fire on content promoted to front page condition

I have a complex AND / OR rule that fires when content is promoted to the front page + some other stuff. This works fine. I converted it to a component and now it does not work at all. I have reduced the component a few times to each of the single conditions that make up the rule and it fires on all of them except on "content is promoted to the front page" with Parameter: Content: [node]. Any assistance?
