Fast look at the code:

foreach ($this->view->display_handler->get_handlers('field') as $field => $handler) {
        $normalized_row->$field = isset($values->{$handler->field_alias}) ? $values->{$handler->field_alias} : NULL;
      

It seems that $values is actually array but not object.
