I am using the http://drupal.org/project/hierarchical_select module, and it works on all the node edit pages where the Topics vocabulary is _not_ collapsed, but in a "space" of its own, on top of the right side column.

But on the events edit page, however, the Topics fieldset is collapsed inbetween other collapsed fieldsets, and there when I expand, Hierarchical_select does not manage to adjust correctly.
I know this is possibly a bug for HS to resolve, and I will pursue this issue in that queue too.

So, out of curiosity just for my exploration and learning about Commons, I wonder where/how to move the topics fieldset out of its current collection and place it on top of the right column, just like it is placed when editing posts or groups.

Is the correct way to make a "variant" here?..:
admin/structure/pages/edit/node_edit
(is it correct to assume that this part of commons is "in code" and not editable in the GUI?)

Hi,

I have exactly the same problem, not due to Hierarchical select, but I don't succeed in changing the layout of node edit pages. In particular I'd like to decide wether a field should be in the right or in the main column, and if a field is collapsed or not.
