I'm not sure if this is a support request or feature request. Maybe there's already a way to do this.

I have a content type with a geofield, and I'm using the openlayers map widget. It works OK. The user can click a point on the map.

The problem is it is quite difficult to click a point with a lot of accuracy. There's a lot of zooming and dragging, and it's kind of easy to get lost on the map.

What I'd like is a textfield (or entire address field) where a user could type a zip code or city name, and when they do, the map zooms to that location. I think of it sort of like autocomplete, but for a map. Does that make sense?

Is anything close to that possible today? I suppose I could try to make some sort of multistep wizard. I.e. enter an address on one page, then present a map on the next, but I don't think that would be the best user experience.

This message is part of the issue cleanup initiative.

Openlayers 2.x has been deprecated since the release of Openlayers 3.x the 31 December 2015.
If you want to stay on 2.x, you should try with the latest version of the 2.x release.

However, I strongly encourage you to move on version 3.
Version 3 is much more stable than version 2. It does not yet contain all the features but the main ones are there.

I'll close this thread, feel free to reopen it if needed.

Thanks for your understanding.
