Hi, I have successfully used this module on many projects, but in one project that uses Display Suite (DS) it just doesn't work. I'm wondering if the reason is the same as in #1691770: Doesn't works with "CCK Blocks Module" and "nodeID block-view" ? (DS turn the Read more link into a field that you can select to display or not.)

The best solution would be if this module could support DS (since it's wildly used), but if that isn't doable just add a clarifying note to the list of Conflicts on http://drupal.org/project/readmorecontrol

This should be a simple matter of checking if the module exists and if that additional field is set and then toggling access based off the flags in readmorecontrol_entity_view(), probably near the placement of link....

  $entity->readmorelink_placement = $format['placement'];

  // Display suite integration.
  if (DS && ReadMore Field seen) {
    // Set access on field if required.
    ??['#access'] = $entity->readmore_required;
    // DS provides a Read more additional field so don't add another.
    $format['placement'] = 'none';
    // Brownie points if you integrate with the new display settings :)

Will work on #2545126: Extra field display option which will provide a workaround. Leaving this open for doco / testing once that issue is resolved.
