This needs an update hook to update the field definition :).

The issue title also includes the "groups directory" filter but I didn't specify what that text should be in the issue. Looking at the interactive prototype it appears the text on the groups directory filter should be "Separate keywords with commas".

oh yes, i just saw the reference field part. Added a placeholder for the groups and an update script for the feature.
