rdeboerHi francis55,
Thanks for reporting.
I'm sorry this is happening to you.
Module Grants has a lot of installs and has been around for a long time with few issues.
It sounds that there's a serious interference between Module Grants and something on your system that other people don't experience.
Maybe Drupal Commons. Not sure.
Anyone else seeing this?
Rik

francis55 commentedmy problem looks like an issue on the realname module, described here:
http://drupal.org/node/1883448
Comment #4
rdeboerClosing due to inactivity and the suspicion of it being a Realname module is.

JThan commentedI am expiriencing this behaviour in a OpenAtrium Installation with tac_lite. Enabling the module will set the expected behaviour from using tac_lite but will not allow anyone (not even user 1, as described above) to edit any node. Disabling the module gives back the power to edit nodes, but then tac_lite has no effect.
As OpenAtrium (actual D6 verion) has no realname included the problem should be somewhere else.

mcarbone commentedSeeing this with Quiz module as well, because its access hook returns FALSE, unlike node_content_access, which returns NULL.
Try the attached.

rdeboerThanks Marco!
A very subtle patch!

mcarbone commentedSo I just noticed that is_null() is used in node.module in the same place, so I wonder if this should be rolled back, and instead it's the contrib modules that need to be fixed so that NULL is returned rather than FALSE. See https://api.drupal.org/api/drupal/developer!hooks!node.php/function/hook...
"NULL to not override the settings in the node_access table, or access control modules."
