Hi,
I think GeoExt can be a great component of the cartaro distribution, allowing to create more complex GIS style interfaces.
There is already a sandbox project to bring that library in Drupal:
http://drupal.org/sandbox/spydmobile/1466356
what do you think about it?

GeoExt integration has been on our radar for quite some time and we're still investigating ways how to implement this. The sandbox project is pretty limited and only provides integration of GeoExt library files. A configuration interface and integration with the OpenLayers module isn't available and that will be the hard part.
In which way do you plan to use GeoExt together with the Cartaro distribution? Do you want to build a complex ExtJS application or do you just want to extend the OpenLayers map with some GeoExt widgets?

This has been built with GeoExt, so my request.
In the mean time I planned to try (but haven't had time) a combined installation of Cartaro & OpenGeo, to use best of both at the same time: ie. displaying with GeoExplorer Drupal (Cartaro) content published via Geoserver or maybe even apply edits via WFS-T, is that possible?

But it should be possible to run Cartaro based on the OpenGeo Suite and use GeoExplorer in conjunction with Cartaro.

I understand your point but as far as I can see GeoExplorer already has a configuration interface built on GeoExt so I will try to use them in conjunction and report back my experience.
Anyway, I hope in the future GeoExt will be properly implemented in Cartaro.
Thank you for your suggestion and your work
