better yet --- update field_collection to use features_field_instance_load instead

@SocialNicheGuru - Can you explain how to reproduce that error? I'm not able to reproduce it.

If you're able to fix the error as described at http://drupal.org/node/1064472#comment-6727096, could you update the patch to reflect that?
