I would like to place this View as a block on another page or node. I tried making a block display but it doesn't show up on the node I specified - am I right in thinking this is because the EVA is controlling the display of the view itself. Any advice appreciated.

Exactly the same here. I can only see the thumbnails, but the main image is not shown up...
