There are a few things that need to be cleaned up prior to a 7.x release. Some of them are worth their own discussion #1813380: Prevent XSS via all settings.

Here are two initial patches that clean things up - one was created with "git diff -w" to only show the "non whitespace" changes.

For those following this issue queue, I've now released this as the 7.x-2.0-beta1 release of hide_submit and plan to continue work there.
