I figure this is most likely user error, but i cant figure it out.

I have installed the subscriptions module. but i do not get an extra menu under "My Account" nor is a link added to subscribe to any content. all i can find is the administrative settings.

You probably didn't set the necessary permissions.

This will be the same for the upcoming version 2.0, which replaces 1.x.
