I try to do a very simple configuration, but I don't find where to do this.

What I did and want to do:

  1. I created a node reference
  2. I go to node "display options"
  3. here I can choose between certain options for the node reference field:
    • Title (link)
    • Title (no link)
    • Rendered node
    • Node ID
    • ...
  4. I want to display the referenced node as "teaser" (for example, or other view mode from that node type), so I choose "Rendered node"
  5. Now its suposed that options for "Rendered node" will be provided, to choose the view mode to render the node, but I can't find this options!

Am I missing something?
Do I need to activate something before the options for "Rendered node" being provided?

I realized that the problem was the combination of "display suite" and "references":
if you have display suite installed and try to setup a node reference field, without choosing one of the display suites layouts for that content type, the options for the fields doesn't appear.
Once I selected a display suite layout, the options for the fields came up.
