hi
it would be nice if we could create a search form..as far as i understand..right now profile plus enables us to enter a few search words and find profiles which match these....

however it would be better..if there is a form....
where things like search with such criteria like...

I am Male / Female
Looking for Male/Female
Living in Dropdown list of countries
Age - dropdown list etc...
and so on

can this be done?
can someone help with this...

This functionality should be available using a combination of Views, CCK and nodeprofile modules. You might also take a look at usernode module.

i have heard of people accomplishing similar things with just the core profile module..with a template override...

do u know how this can be done with this???

i was given to understand that core profile with profile plus is the answer to not using nodeprofile andother modules like user node etc..

if users need to be searched for based on some criteria...then isnt profile plus the suitable alternative...

so cant we have a pre configured form for this..and an additional option as there exists now to search by keyword..

so the way i see it is..

we are preconfiguring the keywords for them...in option 1 where there is a search form...

can this be done with profile plus..can u include it as a feature..

So basically what you're looking for is a feature that will go and find all your profile field names, print them out in a list and allow people to enter a word to search for next to one or more field names. Is this right?

I am looking for the same thing with either a text field, a checkbox or a radio button to search within each profile field, the same as the input format for that field.

Sure, I am looking for the same thing.
We need to land on a form or a page where we can select different values and then do the search.

There is a new module out that allows you to do user searching. I'm not sure if it allows you to search specific profile fields, but its supposed to be able to search CCK fields that might be associated with users, so that might help you in the meantime. ProfilePlus 6.x-2.0-beta2 allows searching specific profile fields for specific terms which may get you closer to what you're looking for (although it would require that you update your site to Drupal 6) but your specific request is outside of the scope of this module.
