In clientside_validation.js the function .indexOf() is being used a few times.
IE<9 doesn't support an .indexOf() function for Arrays.

Pasting the indexOf() function at the top of clientside_validation.js solves the problem.

I added a shim to support trim, indexOf, lastIndexOf can you test this on IE8 and report back?

IE8 works for me as well.
As a small side note, the ie8 script is not included in conditional comments.
