the case construct in function _clientside_validation_set_fapi_validation is wrong for alpha, alpha_numeric, ipv4 and alpha_dash .
with every case sets $type which is reset by the following cases and finally ends up as $type='digit'.
meaning all this cases don't work as expected.
little reordering and fetching the type directly from $callback imo solves the problem.
attached is a patch.

patch is against (stable) version "7.x-1.31"
note: dev version has the same issue.

try getting the latest dev version from git. drupal.org takes about 12 hours to sync with git
