I just installed Drupal 7.14 and using the Fusion Starter theme (7.x-2.0-beta2+0-dev) with Fusion Accelerator enabled.

Enabling the 'Fusion grid tools' sub-module in Fusion Accelerator shifts the entire theme layout to the left edge in IE 8, whether logged in as the Administrator or not logged in.

Until this is fixed, 'Fusion grid tools' must remain disabled so to show the theme properly in IE 8.

Thanks.

Do you have responsive layouts enabled on your theme? If so, have you also installed and enabled the fusion_responsive_ie sub-module by following the instructions in that sub-module's README.txt?

This issue does not occur for me in a clean testing environment, with the default settings of Fusion Starter and with Fusion Grid Tools enabled. I will need to know exactly what your theme settings are and what, if any, customizations you have made to Fusion Starter in order to troubleshoot this issue.

Thanks for your reply, sheena_d.

In modules and prior to discovering the formatting problem, I had enabled most of the default modules, schema and the libraries module in addition to Fusion Accelerator.

After the seeing the formatting difference between Firefox 11 and IE 8, I disabled schema and all of the Fusion Accelerator sub-modules and several of the default modules. At this point, the Fusion Starter page is centered for both browsers.

Next, enabling only the 'Fusion grid tools' from the Fusion Accelerator, the page formatting went from centered to hugging the left side (no leading space) in IE 8.

What I did was, keeping the same modules enabled, and only enabling or disabling the Fusion grid tools module, I compared IE 8's View Source in Notepad++ that has the file comparison tool. I show a segment of the output below:

To see the difference in the free Notepad++ editor, put each segment in a separate file (saving each is unnecessary). Load the 'Compare' plugin and run via the Plugins menu. It will use color to highlight the differences (css files and jQuery.extend and body tag). Afterward, in the Plugins menu, click 'Clear Results' to properly remove the Compare's split windows.

Please let me know if the differences in these code snippets leads to an explanation for the results; how IE 8 interprets them.

Thanks.

I know how to troubleshoot differences between browsers, but thanks for your effort to assist. Providing these two code snippets does not nullify my initial inquiry to provide the exact theme settings and any customizations you have made to the Fusion Starter theme. I will need to reproduce the issue so that I can test appropriate solutions. Also incredibly helpful would be if you could link to a site where the issue is currently I occurring.

Thank you.

drupert55’s picture

Thanks for your response, sheena_d.

Regarding the code differences info, it was more for other viewers reading this thread. I figured you probably would know how. :)

This was a new installation. I had not made any customizations and the settings are default.

I also just added the Fusion theme and Fusion Accelerator to another installation on another domain that had not been used since the 7.4 installation (has Domain Access module), but was upgraded to 7.14 today. I enabled the Fusion Starter as the default theme using its defaults, no customization. It had the same response in IE 8 as the other installation (issue was duplicated which to some degree, is a good thing).

In the second installation, I had not installed the Libraries module, nor attempted to enable the Responsive layouts for IE 6-8 sub-module.

I also manually ran the cron script. The update.php script was also run prior.

Here are the versions for both installations:

D7 7.14
Fusion 7.x-2.x-dev 2012-Mar-24
Fusion Accelerator 7.x-2.x-dev 2012-Mar-24

If you still need the site link, I prefer to send it to you privately.

Thanks.

Additional info:

In Available Updates, it shows the following Fusion version:

Fusion 7.x-2.0-beta2+0-dev (2012-Mar-24)

The default theme settings for Fusion when using Fusion Grid Tools is to enable Responsive layouts. Without enabling the fusion_responsive_ie sub-module and following the set-up instructions in that module's README.txt file, the layout will not display correctly in Internet Explorer 8 and below.

However, I have still not been able to duplicate the exact issue you are experiencing.

I would suggest either turning off the Responsive options in the theme settings or properly installing fusion_responsive_ie and its dependencies to see if that resolves your issue.

If you can provide any further details that may assist with duplicating the issue, feel free to re-open this ticket.

Thanks for your reply, sheena_d.

From what I can see, I have everything setup properly, yet I can't seem to get neither 'Fusion labels' nor 'Fusion grid tools' to work properly. I have 'Response layouts' enabled and the library module with all/libraries/css3-mediaqueries.js also.

I have Fusion Core theme enabled with Fusion Starter as the default. Performance -> 'Aggregate and compress CSS files' was enabled by default.

Regarding Fusion labels (not previously mentioned), I found someone else who is having problems with it as well (see http://drupal.org/node/1566208) when clicking Appearance -> Settings for the default theme.

Otherwise, there are no other issues besides those two (2) so far in these early stages.

Where else might I look?

I would like to use all of the features.

Thanks.

drupert55’s picture

UPDATE:

The issue for 'Fusion labels' module seems to be solved (http://drupal.org/node/1566208). It turns out to be 'dependent' upon the 'Fusion grid tools' module. This is not documented in the instructions.

The 'Fusion grid tools' module formatting issue in IE 8 as described in this issue is still unresolved...

drupert55’s picture

2nd UPDATE:

Issue resolved. It had to do with location of the css3-mediaqueries.js file.

RAFA3L’s picture

Same problem here, the width of my block doesn't work in Explorer. What do you mean about the location of the css3-mediaqueries.js file? I have it in all/libraries/css3-mediaqueries.js

Another thing, the checkbox Support IE 6-8 under Grid Settings still checked even if I uncheck it and save.

sheena_d’s picture

it should be located at sites/all/libraries/css3-mediaqueries/css3-mediaqueries.js

drupert55’s picture

Hello RAFA3L.

That's what I did initially. Somehow I overlooked the part about adding that .js file to the folder, 'css3-mediaqueries.' Therefore, you should have the structure as '.../sites/all/libraries/css3-mediaqueries/css3-mediaqueries.js'.

Regarding your issue with the checkbox Support IE 6-8, I did not experience that. Once I unchecked it and saved, it remained unchecked.

I'd say, once you resolve the css3-mediaqueries.js issue, the other problem goes away as you would want the checkbox checked.

HTH.

RAFA3L’s picture

sorry, I was wrong, that's the correct path where the file is saved, is located at /sites/all/libraries/css3-mediaqueries/css3-mediaqueries.js but doesn't work

RAFA3L’s picture

Sorry but this is crazy, even uninstalling the module Responsive layouts for IE 6-8 the checkbox still there and enabled forever, and if I disable the Fusion grid tools module too I got WSOD in admin/appearance/settings/mytheme. And in the variable theme_fusion_starter_settings the parameter ever is [responsive_ie_shim] => 0

I did a clean install with only:

Drupal 7.14
Fusion Starter 7.x-2.0-beta2
Libraries 7.x-2.0-alpha2
Fusion Accelerator 7.x-2.x-dev

and

.../sites/all/libraries/css3-mediaqueries/css3-mediaqueries.js

and

I clear cache and run cron

sheena_d’s picture

@RAFA3L: your problem with the checkbox is unrelated to this issue ticket. Please post any helpful information you have to the existing ticket for this problem:

#1545850: Checkbox for "Support IE 6-8" remains checked

RAFA3L’s picture

Thanks you alright, but the problem with the Fusion grid tools continue, when I enable this module the width of the blocks are 100% only on IE.

I don't know if the modules Fusion grid tools and Responsive layouts for IE 6-8 are related.

If I disable Fusion grid tools the width of the blocks is respected on IE but the responsive function doesn't work in any browser.

RAFA3L’s picture

I found the solution, the module work perfect!

I use a mini laptop pc only for testing on explorer and the max resolution is 1024x600. So the site all the time was displayed for a mobile layout. Changing the Grid width of the Desktop layout to 1000px resolve the problem. If I put 1024 the problem continue in a 1024 monitor, so 1000 is ok.
