I don't understand what the logo on the link module's project page stands for, means, or represents (truly I'm kind of speechless when I saw it). How about we think about our end users instead and with the single, important image that can be used for a project's front page, we put something meaningful like a screenshot of the field widget in action?

Also, it looks like you used the official Drupal wordmark, which may violate the usage guidelines:

The Drupal wordmark should never be embellished, outlined, or altered in any way. Always use an approved electronic version.

It is important to keep the Drupal wordmark clear of any other graphic elements. To regulate this, an exclusion zone has been established around the wordmark. This exclusion zone indicates the distance any other graphic element or message can be positioned in relation to the mark.

Bumping to major due to misuse of the wordmark. :/

Any response from any maintainer at all? I'm going to have to submit the trademark violation contact form.

Well, you know, you could reach out to me on irc. It's not like I'm not there every day!

I'm not sure what the heck is going on with this wordmark thing, honestly, but just because you're being belligerent about it, I'm going to pull down the image for now. I didn't create it, so whatever.

Because I knew you were busy and weren't the active maintainer (and the maintainer who uploaded the logo) I don't want to bother someone when issue queues are the proper place for things like this. So forgive me.

The report could have been a little bit more polite and in respect with each others efforts in the community...

Apart from the time it costs to make them, logos are mostly about fantasy with symbolic reference to the meaning. So maybe it doesn't reveal for everyone, depending on the logo's metaphoric complexity and the reception skill level of the user. So yes, maybe that's why we should leave such "fun" out of projects on D.O. then.

In this case, the "endless sign", which was like morphed from the Drupalicon eyes, is kind of near the well-known "chain icon" (both look like eights), which stands for links on the web. Maybe too far from easy.

But to put it in relation: Here some links on drupal.org where the original reporter can "help" the contributors to exchange their logos with "helpful" screenshots if this is the mission he is on:

http://drupal.org/project/openlayers
http://drupal.org/project/wfs
http://drupal.org/project/mapbox
http://drupal.org/project/omega
http://drupal.org/project/omega_tools
https://www.drupal.org/project/eva

Apart from that I generally understand such worries, I spare you showing some more links of how "useful" these screenshots often are ... I am only a little bit surprised about the reporters diligence here, who even likes to make jokes in the first lines of module description texts or uses fun screenshots, and is suddenly starting to stir on this on other projects.

Legal note, since this is part of my competences as a project lead, company founder and CEO: The trademark/wordmark issue mentioned here is utter pseudo-patent law nonsense. Not only that it is common to lean Drupal module or theme graphic design near the Drupal logo to demonstrate in which scope this module or theme is living, the endless sign is also a common symbol and does not touch any trademark or wordmark boundaries and the usage of the word Drupal if suited against should have to be removed then immediately from any local Drupal event.

Funny enough: the new project browser initiative recommends a project logo now for Drupal 10 and 11 compatible modules. :)
