I agree I cannot understand why this is not just in the permissions area. Or am I missing it? I just had a whole pile of spam (probalby bots) set up accounts on a clients website and when he asked me why I said I can just make it so that its not possible to set up a new account unless yo uare logged in as admin..
I am finding it hard to figure out how... Thought it would be simple and on the permissions tab like every one secuirity related fuction of drupal 7.
Any one have a solution that doesn't require creating a template for the login page/block just to hide it?
Since this was a top search result I will answer. Go to configuration - people - acount settings. Select Administrators only under "Who can register accounts"
