I recently noticed the canonical meta tags were not working on any of my 70+ sites. I checked the nodewords version and was running "6.x.1.x.dev". I upgraded to 6.x-1.13 and found the canonical meta tags worked again but I could not run update.php or access the performance page (on any of 70+ sites!). I changed to the 6.x-2.0 alpha1 version and now performance and update.php work but once again canonical does not.

Any ideas? Does the canonical field not work in the 6.x-2.0alpha version?

This issue appears to have resolved itself. I now have the 1.13 version working properly. I think maybe the problem was that I had upgraded without deleting/clearing out the old nodewords folder first.
