Chats created in chat room are not displayed

I can create a chat room with no problem. However, when I try to create a new chat in that room, it never appears. The "Create a new chat" form appears to work, accepts entry with no error messages, but the newly created chat never shows up in the room.

It appears that the chat is, in fact, being created. If I try to create another new chat with the same name, I get an error message informing me that a chat with that name already exists. I can see the chats in the database.

I'm admittedly a rank Drupal newbie, so I don't really know the best way to go about troubleshooting this problem. I could certainly provide more info if someone can tell me what would be useful. Thanks in advance for any advice.
