No, the Categories block will display a flat list of all the terms in all vocabularies. I needs one block per vocabulary, with hierarchy.
However, I've later discovered that Taxonomy Dhtml does this already, much in the way Taxonomy Html used to do it. This is more than enough for my needs, or anyone's needs AFAI can tell.
