Attempting to upload a file using Opera 11.51 throws a Javascript error of "An HTTP error 0 occurred.
/upload/js". If you hit okay on the error pop-up and submit your content, it ends up creating a page that shows a whole bunch of file text (for instance, text that you would see if you opened a PDF in a NotePad).

UPDATE: I ended up hitting "Back" after hitting the white page, retyping my issue, and submitting it -and the file magically attached without me attempting to attach it. Definitely a bug, haha.

If you're using upload module you can't be using Drupal 7. Which one is right?

frank0051’s picture

Uh, well, maybe I have this filed under the wrong thing. 1. What version of Drupal is this site (drupal.org) running (I thought it was D7) and 2. Look below to the "File attachments" area as you post your response - is that not the upload module?

Thanks for helping me flesh this out; I'm not all that tech savvy.

OK this is probably file module then.

Can you try repeating these steps to see if you can reproduce the bug consistently?

Yeah did it again, the error is "An HTTP error 0 occurred.

OK it does not look like you're using either filefield module or upload, or Drupal 7 (you can check by looking at modules/system/system.info). Moving this to comment upload...

And, just an FYI, I have had this problem for a while on my 6.x site - I just figured it was my own fault. I then realized over the past couple of days that other 6.22 sites had it, and when I came over to post the error here I had it too. So I figure it has been a long running problem for Drupal through the various versions. Here is my 6.22 thread on the issue: http://drupal.org/node/1277224

Sorry, looks like we ended up posting at the same time. But, it isn't just a comment-upload error, because it does it when I orginially post the content too - not just comments to the content. Here is the code for that error:

OK in that case it's core upload module for Drupal 6. I'd recommend searching the core issue queue for an existing one that sounds similar to this, it may well already have been reported.

frank0051’s picture

I did a search before I posted and I found two that had Opera errors, but I thought this error was uniquely different.

1. http://drupal.org/node/152378 : this individual was able to upload files, and wanted to be able to upload more. I'm not able to upload any because of that white-page output code.

2. http://drupal.org/node/92640: this individual gets an error, but the file still adds.

Perhaps the Javascript has changed since both of these were posted? I can duplicate this error on this Drupal site, my own, and an Drupal OpenAtrium 6.22 site. Opera is free to download if anyone wants to confirm I'm not crazy, haha.

Should we change the status to active instead of postponed given these details?

Okay, after a month of not being able to upload files on a Drupal 6 install while using Opera, I think major is indeed the right status to lead this at. Can someone at least take a look and see if they can figure out what is going on?

Okay, I literally cannot use Drupal to post the stories I need to now using my web browser. I think at this point it rising to a critical issue. And, it is an issue that affects the drupal.org website as well.

This is what catch says on the matter:

jQuery is an external library with its own release cycle and approaches to API changes, whichever version we have in core on release is the one we stick with (unless there's a very minor update after that we can safely upgrade to). This has been the same since jQuery was added to core in the first place, I am not the 'first person' to suggest it, and that's the reason we have http://drupal.org/jquery_update

The correct link is http://drupal.org/project/jquery_update (not the one provided in Catch's quote). He also responds with this as my suggestion that a module is not a solution:

Yes it is, the reason we have modules is to solve limitations with core. It is often annoying to install a module to fix core bugs, but tough, sometimes that's what you have to do. Now it's possible there is a fix to that bug that is not dependent on an update to jQuery, but it is definitely more work for someone to debug that in Opera than for you to install a module. And yet when someone suggests you do that, you continue to demand that people work for free (or for $10) so that you don't have to do that.

So, in sum, I think at this point it is safe to say this issue should be marked as closed (won't fix).
