Since its Drupal 4.7 roots, G2 has always assumed a single content author with full "administer g2 entries" permission.

This is no longer normal behaviour and the module should behave like most other node modules and use additional permissions to allow non-G2-admin authoring of content.

This was actually fixed in the D10/D9 version since #2822262: G2 does not abide by unpublished status.
