Will taxonomy lite stop google indexing pages that are marked as private? if not what's the best way to do this? I was thinking about path auto to add path to nodes created with tax terms, then adding those paths to robots.txt...

Drupal will treat google as an anonymous visitor. If you've set up tac_lite, google should either never find the url in question, or get drupal's page not found if they somehow learn the url.
