Even though applying the patch, it seems its not working..

I get a complete list hapazardly on the menu itself.

I applied the patch dropdown.patch which seems useless..

Can anybody help me in this regard ...

I suspect that people were appliying the Drupal 6 patch to a Drupal 7 theme, so it's not surprising that it didn't work properly.

The Analytic theme does not support drop-down or fly-out menus, but there are a lot of nice modules that will add that functionality. Below are three examples.
