i think it's worth giving it
i think it's worth giving it to the community, i certainly wouldn't pay cash for it.
It's nice, but not for a fee
The theme is simple and clean, but there are so many themes out there that are free. Good Karma for donations.
Thanks for the feedback. I
Thanks for the feedback. I do intend on donating a couple of themes (possibly ports from OSWD, I have one of them lying around), but I also want to sell some themes and I think this should go into the sales category. I'm not trying to make big bucks btw, I just want a supplemental income throughout university.
Anyway I was thinking of charging £100-£150 (roughly $200-$300) for this theme. Is that grossly unrealistic?
It is better than a handful
It is better than a handful of themes on there but in general considering what you can get for free I dont think you sell many copies but who knows,
Hone you skills some more - make a donation of this one to the community
I think the main issue is
I think the main issue is that it doesn't really look much different from blue marine. If you're going to spend money on a theme, you want to spend it on a design that will differentiate you from the competition, something memorable and unique.

Pay is fine, but More Contemporary Themes Needed (IMO)
2nd w/ misery-- nice effort and worth donating, but w/ all the currently-free themes here I personally wouldn't pay for it. Please note that's not a knock on your design skills, just commenting on this particular theme.
That said, i think there's definitely a need for modern/current/Web2-like/whatever-you-call-em Drupal themes and I'd be willing to pay for them. For instance, see how many responses the very good and timely Wii podcast theme thread has-- seems like there's some serious interested in getting more themes like that into Drupal land and tkamen et al (like most developers here) have been great in sharing their ideas.
In particular, you may want to note my "what's in a theme?" comment there from February 15, 2007 - 10:45, where I asked about what it takes to port WP and other themes over. Anyone have ideas regarding something like that?
The current Drupal theme selection is a great service, especially 'cause they're free :-), and BIG thanks to all those that have contributed them so far as I've experimented and/or used quite a few myself. But I personally think there's a big need for more "contemporary" 2006/7 style Drupal themes, too, for all the artistically-challened like me. I mean "web 2.0" thing might be a fad, but the fundamental web 2 design style does make some important contributions to modern usability. And again, I wouldn't expect them for free; perhaps even Drupal.org could even setup a section to "purchase" themes like they have over at TemplateMonster and other sites where you can either pay for a theme copy or pay more for an exclusive, a group-commission where a bunch of us pay a known designer in advance to create a few basic-but-web2 themes for us to use, etc.
Three Bucks
Just curious, why would you think that someone would buy a theme like that when so many are available from the community? Usually people only pay for custom themes.
Thanks again for the input
Thanks again for the input everyone.
Somes, I meant selling it for this price as a one-off sale; ie the buyer would own the rights to the template after the sale and I could therefore not sell it again.
Rorris, the idea is that it is a unique theme.
Drupal's next core theme?
Propose it for Drupal's next core theme? Or BluemarineV2! Definitely that had pleased you more than bucks if it gets in! And then you need to worry about the projects spree you will get to handle! Hehe ;)
