All of the other messages use "username", so it makes sense to be consistent that way. Anyone else with this issue can also override the string in settings.php to avoid hacking the module. Patch forthcoming.

deviantintegral commentedI noticed there isn't a 6.x-1.x release to tag this issue with. However, here's patches against 6.x and 7.x ready for git am.
