I installed Drupal 7 (Jan 4 drupal-7.x-dev, then after update notice, reloaded Feb 9 Drupal-7.x-dev) manually, added both view and advanced help modules. The default theme (bartik) worked when logging in and out for both administrator and authenticated user. Then I added adaptivetheme (3 sudirs) (adaptivetheme-7.x-1.x-dev), and in Appearance>>list enabled the adaptivetheme (the AT core, not AT subtheme or AT admin).
I then added pixture_reloaded (pixture_reloaded-7.x-1.x-dev). I selected 'set default' for pixture_reloaded. I selected a color scheme from Appearance>>settings.
I then logged out of administrator and logged in as an authenticated user (minimal permissions selected, but log in is selected) account set up called 'test user.'
Once in, no 'logout' option appears, so 'test user' cannot log out.
Changing back to administrative user (through a different browser because I could not log out of the current browser with user authentication rights), I switched themes to bartik, and then refreshed my 'test user' in the other browser. The logout field then reappeared.
I tested this behavior with both Foxfire and IE, with same results.
Also, the 'seven' theme responded same as pixture_reloaded, while the adaptivetheme as default theme DID show the logout screen.

Have you enabled the User menu anywhere for this theme?

Pixture Reloaded does not print Main or Secondary menu variables, instead its designed to work only with menu blocks and regions - you have to enable the User menu in a region if you want it to show.

Thanks Jeff Burnz for the response, putting me on to the solution trail.
As no documented reference to this problem appears that I can find, I attempt to make this a learning experience for any interested [the root word of analyst is what?].
Upon selecting:
Administration»Structure»Blocks['Blocks' only appears after pixture_reloaded is selected, as the tabs keep defaulting to the first tab[whatever other themes you've tried might take this first position] when Blocks is selected from with the Structure administrative menu selection] under the Disabled subheading toward the page bottom, the User Menu appears.
I chose to put it in the Header in the Region[heading] dropdown.
Now, within my authenticated user screens, I see a block with User Menu and both the sub-menu items "My account [which perhaps shouldn't appear, as my Administration»Structure»Menus indicates that My account is disabled] and submenu item "Log out" [Voilà, mission accomplished].

I dont know why this is a bug, or what you are even pointing out, I assume this is not a problem associated with the theme.

The issue is that when a normal user is logged in, there is no "Log out" link anywhere in the theme. Even enabling the User login and user menu block for the theme, it does not bring the Log out link. He's not the only one that has this issue..

I don't have a User Menu block.
